CBD: Know What You’re Getting

Quality and Processing Matters

CBD products continue to increase in popularity as users discover benefits like better sleep, anxiety reduction, and pain and arthritis relief. But before you buy any product containing CBD, it’s important to find out how it’s processed and whether the product is tested thoroughly for contaminants and THC so you know what you are getting.

Cannabis plants easily absorb chemicals in the soil and water such as pesticides and heavy metals, which means that frequent testing is vital. Ideally, plants should be tested throughout the growing process.

CBD products should also be tested for harmful contamination from mold, mildew, and bacteria which are not uncommon even among careful growers. Unfortunately, there are a handful of bad-faith companies who, for the purpose of saving on costs, consciously pollute their cannabis products by using paint thinner for the extraction process, a substance that contains volatile organic compounds and is highly toxic to humans.

Because there are currently no federal testing standards for CBD products, the quality of cannabis processing and testing is mostly up to individual companies. Individual states are free to create their own laws and regulations.

New Leaf Pharmaceuticals has our cannabis products tested by accredited ProVerde Labs in Milford, Massachusetts. This video describes their testing process and explains in more detail why this is so vital.

New Leaf also uses a supercritical CO2 extraction process to produce high-grade CBD. This method, using low temperatures, ensures that the full spectrum of beneficial molecules from the cannabis plant are preserved. The process is also safe, gentle, and environmentally sustainable.

Rhinodol nasal spray is formulated with organic, pharmaceutical-grade CBD. Our products have a Certificate of Analysis (COA), which shows the quantity of various cannabinoids in a product. Rhinodol contains zero THC (and therefore produces no “high” feeling) and is registered with the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).

With so many kinds of contamination risk and variation in extraction methods, make sure you know what you’re getting when purchasing CBD products, even if it requires doing a bit of homework. With New Leaf Pharmaceutical products, you can be sure that you’re getting a pure, highly absorbable, and high-quality product every time.
