CBD for Pain Relief

One of the most exciting properties attributed to CBD products is their potential for providing pain relief and improving life for patients with chronic conditions. Both preliminary research and user reporting has shown that CBD products like Rhinodol broad-spectrum nasal spray may be effective at reducing pain and inflammation--and relieving the discomfort caused by a variety of diseases. Importantly, CBD products also offer a viable alternative to opioids and other medications that carry strong side effects and the potential for addiction.

CBD works by stimulating the body’s own endocannabinoid system which helps regulate important functions like sleep, appetite, immune-system responses, and pain. While the research on CBD’s full effects is still limited, evidence from existing studies suggests a positive effect on the reduction of pain.

Research Review

An extensive review of studies on cannabinoids and cannabis was published in Frontiers in Pharmacology in November 2018. The review concluded that, while more long-term studies are needed, CBD is “a promising new therapeutic strategy for pain treatment”. The authors stated that “endocannabinoid-directed therapeutic strategies have been shown to be effective in different animal models of pain.” They also pointed out that CBD has only minimal side effects, and that while it does not seem to be equally effective against all kinds of pain, “Current research evidence supports the use of medical cannabis in the management of chronic pain in adults”.

Arthritis Study

A 2016 study in the European Journal of Pain showed that topical CBD was effective in reducing pain and inflammation in rats with arthritis. The study results stated that CBD-infused gel had “therapeutic potential for relief of arthritis pain-related behaviors and inflammation without evident side-effects”. (Studies on human subjects are needed to confirm these findings.)

The research findings are promising. And as CBD products gain rapid popularity in usage, so are the reports from countless CBD users. Find out more about CBD and its many advantageous properties on our website.
